There are a lot of homeless services around Australia that are waiting to hear the fate of the National Partnership Agreement on Homelessness (NPAH). The funding was extended for 1 year to June 2014 – it finishes in 5 months time. The Federal Government needs to make a decision soon about whether it is going to extend the NPAH – people’s lives depend on it. There are thousands of homeless people who will be seriously worse off if the funding is stopped. There are also thousands of workers who are employed in these services who want to know their future prospects.

Reviews of the NPAH were done in 2012 by the State Auditor Generals. The data is there – a decision to extend is the right one.
